Grant Description
This announcement solicits applications for the National Maternal and Child Health Epidemiology Doctoral Training Program. The purpose of the National Maternal and Child Health (MCH) Epidemiology Doctoral Training Program is to advance the Maternal and Child Health Bureauкs (MCHB) mission to both train the future MCH workforce and promote advancements in applied MCH research. ФSpecifically, this program is designed to support the research of MCH doctoral students within the field of applied epidemiology. ФAdditionally, this program will enhance state and local epidemiologic capacity for assessment, planning, and, by extension, the delivery of health services to the MCH population by exposing a cohort of MCH doctoral students to data, analytic methods, and frameworks under which applied research is conducted.Ф For the 2015-2018 funding cycle, the objectives of this project are:Ф 1)ФФФФФФ To provide financial support to doctoral students who conduct state or local level analyses on a topic important to Maternal and Child Health in conjunction with their dissertation. 2)ФФФФФФ To educate doctoral students in data, analytic methods, and frameworks relevant to state and local MCH programs. 3)ФФФФФФ To strengthen the evidence base in MCH through publication of dissertation research in national journals. The Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) encourages public or nonprofit private institutions that train underrepresented minorities in the fields of MCH and epidemiology to apply for this funding opportunity.
