Grant Description
US Geological Survey is offering a funding opportunity to a CESU partner to conduct research to develop process-based spatial models as tools for both scenario generation and to integrate findings from field-based research by collaborators within the WMI initiative. Ongoing model development with RHESSys (Regional Hydro-Ecologic Simulation System) advances techniques that quantify the contributions of underlying watershed geologic characteristics to the sensitivity of both forest water use and streamflow to drought, provide better forecasting tools for understanding the response of western streams and forests to fire, and to describe and model physiological responses of tress to increasing climate change-caused stress.
