Grant Description
USGS is offering a funding opportunity to a CESU partner for collaborative synthesis concerning effects of hydrologic variation on stream fishes. A focus of this project will be integrating results from intensive field studies of population and metapopulation dynamics, with understanding gained from analyses of population states measured across gradients of hydrologic condition. Funding is intended to support a post-doctoral associate, who with their CESU faculty advisor, will collaborate with USGS scientists to analyze field data on fish species population dynamics in relation to streamflow patterns, and to explore frameworks for integrating diverse ecological studies to provide a scientific basis for ecological flows with respect to supporting biodiversity. This effort will build on previous work conducted in streams in the Apalachicola River basin (ACF).
