Grant Description
The US Geological Survey, Northern Rocky Mountain Science Center (NOROCK) is offering a funding opportunity is to review geographic disease spread, including an historical perspective on the development of disease spread models from the disease mapping and spatial epidemiology perspectives. This historical perspective can offer a clarifying lens through which to view the latest modeling approaches and can facilitate consistency in future efforts. In addition, a review should also be conducted on modeling geographic spread in other non-disease processes such as invasive species and climate change-induced range shifts. From each of these fields, a glossary of spatial spread terminology will be developed along with summarizing modeling approaches used, identifying commonalities and differences between modeling approaches and describing the data requirement of each.
