Grant Description
The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) National Wetlands Research Center (NWRC) is offering a funding opportunity to a CESU partner for research to support refinement of modeling of population dynamics. Understanding population and dispersal dynamics is critical for understanding a large number of conservation management issues including disease, invasive species, and dispersal under climate change scenarios. For example, we would like one or more of the following questions addressed: (1) The interactions of between amphibian disease, dispersal and co-infection; (2) nutria (Myocastor coypus) impacts on marsh loss and management; (3) dispersal and management of giant apple snails (Pomacea maculata). The model should be spatially explicit, with structured or individual based population approaches whereby management scenarios are addressed.
