Grant Description
The USGS is offering a funding opportunity to a CESU partner to conduct research on nutrient dynamics in Lake Ontarios nearshore waters of New York to help better understand factors that have led to increased nuisance algae and related water-quality problems. This research should expand on nearshore work conducted in 2008 in support of the US and Canadian Lake Ontario Lakewide Management Plan (LaMP) efforts to develop a better understanding of the connection between tributary nutrient inputs and nearshore water quality. Ideally the work of the CESU partner will complement the LaMPкs 2013 offshore monitoring and research and the USGSк 2013 enhanced Lake Ontario tributary monitoring effort.
