Grant Description
THIS IS A NOTICE OF INTENT TO AWARD TO A SINGLE SOURCE, AND THERE IS NO FULL ANNOUNCEMENT ASSOCIATED WITH THIS NOTICE. This notice is not a request for competitive proposals. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (Service) intends to award a grant agreement to the Wyoming Wetlands Society under authority of CFDA 15.655 and the Fish and Wildlife Act of 1956 (16 USC 742a-742j). The Wyoming Wetlands Society is the only organization with the knowledge, facilities, and expertise to raise Trumpeter Swans in captivity for release back into the wild to restore Trumpeter swans to their historic breeding areas in the Greater Yellowstone area and throughout the Pacific Flyway. The Wyoming Wetlands Society maintains a captive breeding facility in the Greater Yellowstone Region and is the only producer of Trumpeter swans in the area whose swans have been genetically tested and approved for release under our cooperative management plan for this population. The cooperative management plan is a product of the Pacific Flyway Council and the Service have committed to the restoration management actions in the plan via participation in the development of the plan and in our EA on swan hunting in the Pacific Flyway. The Society raises the swans and releases them in areas approved by the Pacific Flyway Council
