Grant Description
This award is anticipated to be a single-source determination because of technical expertise, support capacity and cost-sharing ability provided by Island Conservation. The USFWS San Francisco Bay NWRC will be developing an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for a non-native mouse eradication project on the Farallon NWR. Eradication of the mice has been identified as a priority in the Farallon NWR Comprehensive Conservation Plan (2009) to help restore the Farallon Islands ecosystem and in the Luckenbach Oil Spill Restoration Plan to help restore seabirds impacted by that oil spill. The Service will take the lead role on the EIS but will work with partners such as Island Conservation to assist with the EIS by providing expertise on rodent eradication techniques, development and analysis of alternatives, communications, and research and development, all with oversight and strong participation by the Service.
