Grant Description

The purpose of the agreement is to provide financial assistance to facilitate the production and presentation of an exhibit of photographs of the Jordan River in Salt Lake County, Utah. The objective of this activity is to increase public awareness of the natural resource values of the Jordan River, and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service’s role in restoration of these resources using funds from the Sharon Steel Natural Resource Damage Settlement (the Settlement). This activity is consistent with the goals and objectives of the Sharon Steel Natural Resource Restoration Plan (USFWS, 1997), which directs how the Settlement funds should be spent. This plan identified lack of public awareness of the value of the Jordan River as one of the factors leading to damages to FWS “trust natural resources” on the river, and listed increased public awareness and involvement in habitat restoration as a way to compensate or restore these resources. Matching funds from other donors or other sources will be required to complete this activity.
