Grant Description

This synopsis is the full announcement. The tasks to be performed under this agreement are as follows: a. Identify: a) species and ecosystems that are most at risk from climate change; b) how and where these targets are vulnerable; and c) which key ecological attributes (e.g., aspect of a species' biology that if altered or missing could lead to the loss of the species over time) will likely be affected. b. Identify priority strategic actions for priority species and ecosystems to address climate change and provide landscape-scale strategic guidance for climate adaptation and resilience-building. This will be accomplished by refining the preliminary strategic actions identified at the December 2009 workshop for Gunnison sage-grouse, headwaters, and alpine wetlands and develop strategic actions for other priority conservation targets using the Adaptation for Conservation Targets Framework developed by Cross et al. (in prep.). Utilize information obtained through the development of a vulnerability assessment for priority species and ecosystems. c. Design an on-the-ground climate adaptation demonstration project. d. Disseminate results through various media (e.g., websites, publications, and workshops) This agreement is being awarded under the following authority: Section 2 of Reorganization Plan No. 3 of 1950 (64 Stat. 1262) as amended. The project was competed through the Southern Rockies Landscape Conservation Cooperatives program.
