Grant Description
This synopsis is the full announcement. The tasks to be performed under this agreement are as follows: bi-annually estimate black-footed ferret populations on the Haverfield Complex and Smoky Valley Ranch including spotlight surveys, capture and transport of live ferrets, ferret health assessments, vaccine inoculations, and implantation of identification tags. This Single Source Award is being made in accordance with Department of the Interior Policy 505 DM 2.14 B (4), which allows for award without competition to an applicant (Unique Qualifications╔к_location and technical expertise). Monitoring of Black-footed Ferret Populations at Reintroduction Sites in Kansas. There are two objectives for this project: 1) Accurately and efficiently survey and capture black-footed ferrets on two reintroduction sites during March and September of each year. 2) Safely administer anesthetics and vaccines, conduct health assessments, and implant identification devices into individual ferrets. The public purpose of the project is to assist recovery of black-footed ferret as authorized by the Endangered Species Act for the benefit of the American people.
