Grant Description

A NOTICE OF INTENT TO AWARD is issued by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (“the Service”) to Pacific Rim Conservation according to 505 DM 2.14(4)(refer to the attached NOI justification located in the Full Announcement section of this announcement). NO COMPETITION IS EXPECTED - please do not apply for this opportunity. The Service and Pacific Rim Conservation will develop an action plan that will detail conservation actions for the birds of Hawaii which will include descriptions of conservation actions by species and grouped by islands. The plan includes an introduction describing the urgency for actions, profiles of approximately 18 bird species, and an appendix or website that lists specific projects. The updated plan will address existing and potential effects of climate change on seabirds and seabird habitats. The document will be a "stand-alone" companion to the 2005 seabird conservation plan and will address seabirds and habitats utilized by seabirds of the California Current System (Washington, Oregon, and California) and the tropical seabirds of Hawaii and the US Pacific Islands. The update will include five distinct sections which are: executive summary, overview, effects on seabirds of the California System, Hawaii, US Pacific Islands, and a list of recommended actions for management, monitoring, research, and outreach/education to address these effects. Substantial involvement, on the part of the Service, is anticipated (refer to 505 DM 2.9B).
