Grant Description

This project will protect a pure population of Rio Grande cutthroat trout in a stream with high angler use and support for Rio Grande cutthroat trout. Construction of a barrier will aid in efforts to restore declining fish and other aquatic resource populations before they require listing under the Endangered Species Act. Maintenance of diverse, self-sustaining fish and other aquatic resource populations is a high priority Service activity in support of public resource use.
