Grant Description

The U.S. Department of Labor (USDOL), Veteransм Employment and Training Service (VETS), announces the availability of approximately $13 million in grant funds authorized under Title 38 of United States Code (U.S.C.), Sections 2021 and 2023. Consistent with the Opening Doors national campaign directed by the U.S. Interagency Council on Homelessness (USICH), the purpose of these funds is to conduct programs to provide job training, counseling, placement, and related services to expedite the reintegration of homeless and incarcerated veterans (eligible veterans) into the labor force. As the applicant, you are encouraged to design programs that address the employment challenges faced by eligible veterans in consultation with industry, employers and employer associations to identify the skills needed for in-demand jobs and careers. Applications selected for funding will demonstrate the following: ╢ Ability to develop and execute strategies with attainable goals for job-driven training based on Labor Market Information and evidence-based successful practices. ╢ Ability to collaborate and coordinate with community-based organizations to ensure that local, state, and federal resources are used effectively and efficiently to expedite the reintegration of eligible veterans into the labor force. ╢ Ability to deliver or connect participants to effective job training, counseling, and other related services, such as the provision of housing and needed health services as means for expediting the reintegration of eligible veterans into the labor force. ╢ Ability to provide effective services to female homeless veterans and homeless veterans with families. ╢ Ability to provide effective services to incarcerated or recently incarcerated veterans who are at risk of homelessness.
