Grant Description

This is a notice of intent to award a single source grant agreement to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) Division of Mineral Resources Management (DMRM) without competition under justification 505DM 2.14B, 2 and 4.Competition for the award is not practical as ODNR DMRM has the expertise to design, construct, and evaluate methods of treatment for acid mine drainage (AMD). ODNR MRM is familiar with the operations and maintenance of limestone dosers; as well as water testing and analysis of water testing results to determine if the limestone dosers are operating effectively. In addition, this agency has local knowledge of the area and local sources of AMD. The project will involve treatment of Acid Mine Drainage in Thomas Fork, a tributary to Leading Creek. Activities are expected to be initiated in 2016 and completed by December 31, 2018. Limited funding may be available in the future through this program to renew any initiated projects. It is anticipated that a single award will be distributed at this time.
