Grant Description

The Western Alaska Landscape Conservation Cooperative (LCC) is a self-directed partnership governed by a Steering Committee. The Steering Committee includes representatives from 14 State, Federal and Tribal organizations. It is one of 5 LCCs in Alaska and one of 22 in North America. Our mission is to promote coordination, dissemination and development of applied science to inform landscape level conservation, including terrestrial-marine linkages in the face of a changing climate and related stressors. Congress provides seed funding for our LCC through the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. This funding announcement is part of our Terrestrial Systems focus for FY16 and FY17. Projects sponsored in these years will be linked to the topic, Informing decision makers about climate change effects on terrestrial habitat features and their impact on important resources/services in western Alaska. Three categories are included in this funding opportunity: Category 1. Patterns of change, and their impacts, in the phenology and distribution of subsistence resources, harvested species, or other species of management interest. Category 2: Identification and synthesis of information about (hotspots) of change or of highly resilient (stable) locations in western Alaska. Category 3: Changes in terrestrial habitat characteristics and their impact on important resources or services in western Alaska.
