Grant Description
The Zoological Society is uniquely qualified to perform the activity due to many factors. They are able to host teachers in a week long professional development training at the San Diego Zoo's Safari Park. While teachers are in the training they will have access to state of the art scientific research facilities at the Arnold and Mabel Beckman Center. Once teachers have been trained they will bring their students to the newly completed Outdoor Learning Lab at the Beckman Center where they will be able to participate in field based scientific experiments. The staff at the Institute for Conservation Research can provide replicable, relevant, standards based conservation science activities in formal informal setting that connect science educators to wildlife conservation.
