This Cooperative Agreement is being awarded to Dr. Ekaterini Vlahos under the Rocky Mountains Cooperative Ecosystems Studies Unit. Record and evaluate the two ranch complexes at the Baca producing the following documentation: A. Report The report should include but not be limited to: A contextual history of the complexes including the history of the Baca Grant 4, the construction dates (if known) of the buildings and structures, the various uses and ownerships over the years, associated individuals, and other relevant information. This information may be combined into one section when it is the same for both complexes. A scaled map for each District indicating each of the recorded buildings or structures. Copies of any historical photographs, maps, or other historic documents of interest. Individual descriptions of each building and each structure including construction details, materials, dimensions, modifications, and general condition. Although the emphasis is on the exterior of the buildings descriptions of significant interior features should also be included. A minimum of two representative photographs per building and structure should be included with the description. Recommendations and justifications for each building and structure concerning its status as a contributing or non-contributing resource for a National Register of Historic Places District. B. Forms Complete the appropriate Colorado Cultural Resource Survey forms as provided by the Colorado State Historic Preservation Office. Include all required attachments or other information of interest. Each of the two complexes should be recorded as a separate District with clear justification of which buildings and structures are contributing and non-contributing to a NRHP District. Recording should follow guidance provided by the Colorado Office of Archaeology and Historic Preservation in their Colorado Cultural Resource Survey Manual http://www.historycolorado.org/sites/default/files/files/OAHP/crforms_edumat/pdfs/1527.pdf and the instructions associated with the forms (http://www.historycolorado.org/archaeologists/survey-inventory-forms#crforms). Provide scaled and labeled maps of each complex indicating individual buildings and structures and a boundary. Color photographs of each building or structure with a minimum of one photograph per elevation. C. Digital Files A disk or flash drive with WORD versions of the report and the forms. Include scans of any historic documents. Include all photographs with files labels corresponding to descriptions in report and forms.
