Grant Description
The tasks to be performed under this agreement are as follows: Under this award, the Recipient will have a unique opportunity to spearhead analyses of one of the largest and longest-running databases on abnormal amphibians, which now includes over 10 years, 45 States in the U.S., and more than 68,000 examined frogs and toads. Analyses will evaluate how malformation risk varies among species and across space, including local, regional, and continental spatial scales, and what environmental factors best account for observed patterns in amphibian abnormalities. The selected candidate will also be encouraged to develop and pursue his or her own research questions using this database, which includes information on amphibian communities, the types and frequencies of morphological abnormalities, the identity and intensity of more than 30 endo- and ectoparasites, and additional data (e.g., water chemistry, local land use, etc.) for selected refuges.
