Grant Description

EPAуs Office of Pesticide Programs (OPP), in coordination with the EPA Regional Offices, announces the availability of approximately $506,000 for FY13 to further, through research, development, monitoring, public education, training, demonstrations, or studies, the adoption of Integrated Pest Management (IPM) approaches to reduce pesticide risk in production agriculture settings in the United States. IPM is a sustainable approach to managing pests by combining biological, cultural, physical, and chemical tools in a way that minimizes economic, health, and environmental risks. Proposed projects must: 1) further through research, development, monitoring, public education, training, demonstrations, or studies the adoption of IPM tactics that reduce the risks associated with pesticide use, and 2) demonstrate the importance and relevance of the proposed project on a regional level. Eligible applicants include the 50 States, District of Columbia, U.S. Virgin Islands, Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, any territory or possession of the United States, any agency or instrumentality of a State including State universities, and all federally recognized Native American Tribes. Local governments, private universities, private nonprofit entities, private businesses, and individuals are not eligible. The total estimated funding expected to be available for awards under this competitive opportunity is approximately $506,000. EPA anticipates award of up to approximately four grants or cooperative agreements ranging in value from approximately $100,000 up to no more than $170,000, subject to the availability of funds, the quality of applications received, and other applicable considerations. The project period of performance is limited to two years. Selections and awards will be made by EPAуs Office of Pesticide Programs with funding from EPAуs Office of Chemical Safety and Pollution Prevention.
