This is a "Notice of Intent" of a single source task agreement award to Missouri State University, Springfield, MO under the Great Rivers Cooperative Ecosystem Studies Unit. This is a continuation partnership that evolved from working with the Hearland Network to implement vital signs monitoring and provides the opportunity to develop education and interpretation products using network data and findings. This cooperative agreement is a continuation of the successful science/teacher workshops conducted in partnership with Missouri State at George Washington Carver NM and Wilson╔к_s Creek NB. The same individuals involved with designing and executing the workshop will continue to carry out this partnership.

Grant Description

The Heartland Inventory and Monitoring Network (HTLN) needs assistance and expertise to ensure that the results of monitoring are relevant and accessible to park managers and the public. The partner is expected to undertake a diversity of tasks generally related to: 1. Assisting network scientist in translating scientific findings into concise, understandable, integrated information products for park managers and the public; 2. Developing education and interpretation programs that incorporate a spectrum of network-generated information in the context of each park╔к_s specific resources and purpose to engage park managers and the public; 3. Using HTLN findings to develop curriculum for local educators to use in the classroom and on-site to improve overall scientific literacy and the role of science in managing National Parks.
