This is a "Notice of Intent" of a single source task agreement award to the University of Memphis, Memphis, TN under the Great Rivers Cooperative Ecosystem Studies Unit (CESU). The cooperator for this project was chosen because of the unique ability. The PI was chosen due to the extensive experience and long research history in the specific project area (Bighorn Canyon NRA) and throughout the region. The PI provides volunteer support capacity and brings as part of an organized archaeological field school. This PI technical expertise is archaeological site identification, evaluation, and analysis with an emphasis on geospatial and geoarchaeological techniques.

Grant Description
University of Memphis researchers will conduct a Class III pedestrian inventory with evaluation of archaeological resources at Bighorn Canyon NRA (BICA). The project will be conducted as part of the NPS System-Wide Archaeological Inventory Program (SAIP). The project will provide cultural resources training opportunities for participants from the Crow and Northern Cheyenne Tribes as part of a Tribal Historic Preservation Office (THPO) development initiative led by the Tribal cultural committees, BICA, and the University of Memphis.
