Grant Description
Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program (AFG) provides financial assistance directly to fire departments and nonaffiliated EMS organizations to enhance their capabilities with respect to fire and fire-related hazards. Our primary goal is to help fire departments and nonaffiliated EMS organizations meet their firefighting and emergency response needs. AFG seeks to support organizations that lack the tools and resources necessary to more effectively protect the health and safety of the public and their emergency response personnel with respect to fire and all other hazards. Projects or initiatives that are eligible for funding under this announcement are: a. Firefighter Operations and Safety (including personal protective equipment, firefighting equipment, training, wellness/fitness, and modifications to fire facilities) b. Firefighter Vehicle Acquisition c. EMS Operations and Safety (including personal protective equipment, firefighting equipment, training, wellness/fitness, and modifications to EMS facilities) d. EMS Vehicle Acquisition e. Regional Projects to Achieve Interoperability The FY 2008 AFG application is NOT accessible through Grants.gov.
