No more than ten (10) years can have passed between the year the Principal Investigator's Ph.D. was awarded and the year of the deadline for the application. For the present competition, those who received doctorates no earlier than 2003 are eligible. There can be no co-Principal Investigators. Each Principal Investigator may only submit one Office of Science Early Career Research Program application per annual competition. Additionally, a Principal Investigator may not participate in more than three Office of Science Early Career Research Program competitions. Participation in the competition is defined as submission of a full application. No additional certifying documentation is required. Applications must be submitted through a U.S. academic institution. A companion announcement (LAB 13-958) describes the Early Career Research Program opportunity for full-time DOE national laboratory employees.
