CDC’s Procurement and Grants Office has published a program announcement entitled, “Prevention of Cervical Cancer in HIV Positive Women in the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia under the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief.” Approximately $493,777 will be available to fund approximately one award. The purpose of the program is to pilot and document an investigation into the question of whether a single-visit approach for cervical cancer with visual inspection with acetic acid (VIA), followed by immediate treatment with cryotherapy for those testing positive (or referral as indicated), is safe, acceptable, and feasible for HIV positive women in Ethiopian HIV care and treatment settings. For complete program details, please see the full announcement. The estimated funding date is prior to September 30, 2009.
