Eligible applicants Eligible applicants that can apply for this funding opportunity appear below: Pasteur Institute (PI) The Pasteur Institute is a governmental agency of the Vietnam Ministry of Health. The Institute has a long history of working closely and collaboratively with HHS/CDC and PEPFAR - Vietnam through the existing HHS/CDC Cooperative Agreement with the Ho Chi Minh City Provincial AIDS Committee (HCMC PAC). The Pasteur Institute was founded in Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC), Vietnam in 1891 with Dr. Albert Calmette as its director. It was the first Pasteur facility to be established outside of France. In 1975, it became a part of the Vietnam national health system and its name was changed to the Institute of Epidemiology to reflect its new role as a Government of Vietnam institute in managing hygiene and disease epidemics in the southern region of the country. In 1991, with growth of the international collaboration, its name was changed again to Pasteur Institute of Ho Chi Minh City.

Grant Description
The purpose of this funding opportunity announcement (FOA) is to support the government of Vietnam’s ability to build a sustainable response to its national HIV/AIDS epidemic by strengthening its laboratory infrastructure to promote capacity to support surveillance, diagnosis, treatment, disease-monitoring and HIV screening for blood safety. These activities continue to be a priority for PEPFAR. In Vietnam most laboratory support is directed through government institutions, including the Pasteur Institute.
