Eligible Applicants This program is authorized under section 317(k) (1) of the Public Health Service Act [42 U.S.C. 247b (k) (1)], as amended. Under this statutory authority, For-Profit Entities and Non-Domestic, Non-U.S. Entities are not eligible. The following entities are eligible to apply to the extent they are States, political divisions of States, other public entities, or nonprofit entities: Eligible applicants that can apply for this funding opportunity are listed below: ╔ Nonprofit with 501C3 IRS status (other than institution of higher education) ╔ Nonprofit without 501C3 IRS status (other than institution of higher education) ╔ Small, minority, and women-owned businesses (Non-profit only) ╔ Universities ╔ Colleges ╔ Research institutions ╔ Hospitals ╔ Community-based organizations ╔ Faith-based organizations ╔ Federally recognized or state-recognized American Indian/Alaska Native tribal governments ╔ American Indian/Alaska native tribally designated organizations ╔ Alaska Native health corporations ╔ Urban Indian health organizations ╔ Tribal epidemiology centers Eligibility is limited to non-profit entities, because these are the parameters of the funding authority, Section 317(k)(1) of the Public Health Service Act: This program is authorized under section 317(k) (1) of the Public Health Service Act [42 U.S.C. 247b (k) (1)], as amended. The language of the statute states that organizations are eligible to receive funding to the рthe extent they are States, political divisions of States, other public entities, or nonprofit entities.с To demonstrate eligibility, the applicant must be an established, tax-exempt organization (a nongovernmental, tax-exempt corporation or association whose net earnings in no way lawfully accrue to the benefit of private shareholders or individuals). Tax-exempt status may be confirmed by providing a copy of the pages from the Internal Revenue Serviceуs (IRS) most recent list of 501 (c) (3) of tax-exempt organizations or a copy of the current IRS Determination Letter with the application.
