The Ministry of Health (MOH) is the only commissioned governmental agency in the Kingdom of Lesotho responsible for safeguarding public health. As mandated by the Government of the Kingdom of Lesotho, the MOH is responsible for coordinating and implementing health services throughout the country. The MOH has committed to reducing new HIV infections in adults and children, AIDS-related deaths, and TB deaths associated with HIV/AIDS. The MOH has the statutory authority to develop, implement, and oversee regulations related to HIV/AIDS prevention, care, and treatment programs, and other health services throughout the country. The agency manages health care facilities within the public health care sector and ensures that the Basotho people in Lesotho have access to quality healthcare services. Responsibilities include prioritization and decision-making on all development partners and USG-supported HIV/AIDS and related services. This funding opportunity announcement (FOA) is designed to increase government-to-government collaborations and to build the capability of MOH as part of a long-term sustainability program.

Grant Description
The overarching purpose of this funding opportunity announcement (FOA) is to strengthen the capacity of Lesotho Ministry of Health (MOH), to enhance the response to the Lesotho HIV/AIDS epidemic through the rapid expansion and high quality HIV/AIDS prevention, care and treatment programs. The major objectives are: ╔ To improve human resource capacity development to provide enhanced and continuous HIV/AIDS and TB services ╔ To strengthen the strategic information (SI) system capacity to generate national and district level data on HIV/AIDS for effective and efficient implementation of programs ╔ To enhance the laboratory services to improve and meet the HIV/AIDS treatment targets ╔ To improve procurement and supply chain management and/commodity security to meet the targets ╔ To enhance the capacity of MOH to effectively coordinate the scale up of quality improvement strategies for HIV/AIDS and TB services nationwide
