Grant Description
The purpose of this program is to increase access to and utilization of high quality, integrated, confidential, voluntary client- (VCT) and provider-initiated (PITC) HIV testing and counseling (HTC). This should include post-test and other emerging health services through diverse approaches and models to service delivery. Cost-effectiveness and sustainability are paramount and thus, the awardee will identify and build local partnerships with civil society and government to increase uptake and quality of VCT and PITC services. Emphasis will be placed on developing innovative referral systems to HIV care and treatment services both within community and health facility settings. In addition, a critical focus will be the integration of health-related services at VCT service sites. The result will be a significant measurable increase in the number of: (a) individuals tested; (b) clients testing HIV-positive accessing treatment services; and (c) local organizations providing confidential HTC services in Botswana.
