Eligible applicants that can apply for this funding opportunity are listed below: • Non-profit organizations with Section 501(c) (3) IRS status (other than institutions of higher education). • Faith-based organizations Assistance will be provided only to non-profit organizations that are well-established; national in scope; and have experience in the development and dissemination of asthma and indoor and outdoor air quality communication, education, and policy programs. “National in scope” is defined as operating within all ten U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) regions. Information on these regions is available at http://www.hhs.gov/about/. Applicants must have a minimum of 5 consecutive years of previous experience and be currently operating in all of the ten HHS regions. Work demonstrating reach solely to a state and/or regional audience will not be considered responsive. Failure to provide full documentation as described in the preceding paragraph of Section IV.1 will be considered non-responsive and result in the application not being considered for funding.

Grant Description

The purpose of this program is to build upon the existing capacity of the applicants and CDC to carry out public health activities in asthma communication, education, awareness, and policy initiatives as they reduce disparities in the burden of asthma and as they relate to indoor and outdoor air quality; and to advance CDC’s goals and recognition as an international leader in reducing the burden of asthma and the burden of adverse health effects associated with indoor and outdoor air quality through the application of public health practices and principles.
