Grant Description
The primary purpose of this FOA is to ensure and expand quitline capacity so that all callers to the quitline during a federal media campaign are offered at least one coaching call, either immediately upon calling or by being re-contacted within two to three days. The secondary purpose is to continue to expand the capacity of state tobacco control programs to implement evidence-based cessation interventions in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and Guam. These interventions include: (1) ensure infrastructure for state quitline; (2) improve quitline capacity; (3) participate in surveillance and evaluation efforts; (4) identify and target disparate populations; (5) improve sustainability; (6) increase media efforts; (7) enhance quitline protocol and operations; (8) improve understanding of comprehensive cessation coverage for Medicaid recipients; and (9) promote health systems change.
