Grant Description
CDC’s Procurement and Grants Office has published a funding opportunity announcement entitled, “Integration of ISO and Quality Management System Standards into National Public Health Laboratory Networks to Enhance Global Surveillance of Extremely Dangerous Pathogens”. Approximately $500,000 be available in fiscal year 2009 to fund two awards. The purpose of this cooperative agreement is to provide technical assistance for the integration of international standards such as the International Organization for Standardization document "ISO 15189:2003: Standard for medical laboratories" and quality management system (QMS) standards into national public health laboratory networks globally, therefore enhancing the ability of these laboratories to provide reliable, accurate and timely data to support the surveillance of Extremely Dangerous Pathogens (EDPs).
