Eligibility Categories
This is a single-eligibility award. Only California Newsreel (CN) is eligible to apply. CDC is not soliciting any other applications. Among the communications companies that could develop multi-media approaches to child maltreatment, only California Newsreel (CN) is uniquely qualified to develop multi-media components based on the American Birthright documentary in development by CN. The documentary is focused on the linkages among child development, social and economic determinants to health and health inequities, social justice, violence prevention, and public health. This organization is uniquely qualified for the following reasons: (1) The documentary (American Birthright) that will inform the multi-media components is under development and is the property of CN. No other organization would have access to nor could use CN•À_s propriety information to develop the multi-media components. To fund the documentary itself, CN has other funders that support this project; CDC will be supporting the development of the conceptual units and training modules, approximately 40% of the cost ($2.2million dollars is the total cost of the project). (2) The documentary that will inform the multi-media components is a direct follow-up to Unnatural Causes, a documentary developed by CN. Lessons learned, data, and information collected through the development of Unnatural Causes will inform the multi-media project. No other organization has access to this propriety information; therefore CN is the only source that can perform this requirement.
