Eligible applicants that can apply for this funding opportunity are listed below: This is a single-eligibility award. Only the World Health Organization (WHO) is eligible to apply. CDC is not soliciting any other applications. CDC can maximize the efficiency of its efforts to support the reduction of injuries and violence by supporting WHO and the recommendations of: (1) World Report on Road Traffic Injury Prevention, for the global reduction of road traffic injuries. Following publication of the World Health Organization and World Bank World Report on Road Traffic Injury Prevention, the United Nations adopted resolution 58/289, entitled рImproving global road safetyс, where the General Assembly invited the World Health Organization (WHO) to act as a coordinator on road safety issues within the United Nations system. The World Health Assembly adopted resolution WHA 57.10 that accepted the General Assembly invitation for WHO to act as the coordinator on road safety issues and =to prioritize road safety as a public health issue and to take steps to implement measures known to be effective in reducing road traffic injuries.

Grant Description
The purpose of the program is to prevent and control violence and unintentional injuries through activities that promote: the development of indicators and surveillance systems to monitor injuries and violence in low- and middle-income countries; training and education; implementation of and evaluation of comprehensive strategies to prevent and control injuries and violence in low- and middle-income countries; and the dissemination of information, tools, and expertise to prevent and control injuries and violence. This program is international in scope but addresses the рHealthy People 2020с focus area(s) of preventing injury and violence.
