Specifically, the Institute for Bird Populations will use the NatureServe Climate Change Vulnerability Index tool to assess vulnerability of 140 bird species and will develop a Climate Change Adaptation Strategy for Sierra Nevada birds. The USFWS intends to award Institute for Bird Populations a single source agreement becuase of the unique qualifications of the staff with the technical expertise to use this tool and complete this analysis. The anticipated project start date will be July 2011 with an expected completion date of December 2012.
