Grant Description
USFWS intends to award Ducks Unlimited (DU) a single source grant in accordance with Section 3407(e) of the Central Valley Project Improvement Act (CVPIA). The Stockton Office of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS), Anadromous Fish Restoration Program (AFRP) will provide $100,000 to the Cougar Wetland Project (Project) team through the Western Regional Office of Ducks Unlimited (DU) to fund assessment, permitting and design activities related to the restoration of Cougar Wetland within the Cosumnes River Preserve for the purpose of connecting historic tidal sloughs to the mainstem Cosumnes River and providing tidal wetland habitat to juvenile Chinook salmon, steelhead, and other fish species. USFWS intends to award a single source grant because the award supports the continuation of ongoing work and because the Project team and DU are uniquely qualified to accomplish these activities due to technical expertise in designing and implementing tidal wetland restoration that benefits anadromous and native fish. DU funded and has completed the initial site assessment and 10% engineering design. Additionally, DU has organized and facilitated meetings of the Project team. Additionally, DU is a landowner and member of the multi-agency team that jointly manages the Cosumnes River Preserve.
