Grant Description
This Notice of Intent (NOI) is not a request for applications. Instead, the NOI is to provide public notice of the Bureau of Reclamation’s intent to provide funding to the Shoshone-Paiute Tribes (Tribes) whereby the Tribes will purchase and install a boat cleaning station at Wild Horse Reservoir. The boat cleaning station will be a mobile, self contained unit that requires boat owners to spend approximately sixty seconds to wash their boat as they drive onto the unit, wash, and drive off. Installation of this boat cleaning station will help the Tribes manage and protect their Reservation water resources by providing the boating recreationist at the reservoir an opportunity to clean their boats prior to entering Wild Horse Reservoir; therefore, reducing the risk of introduction of the Zebra/Quagga mussels into the waters of the reservoir, and ultimately Reservation reservoirs and distribution systems, and the Columbia River Drainage.
