Grant Description

specific objectives to estimate short-term effects are: 1) Quantify collision mortality associated with tall structures from a subsample of radio-marked grouse and carcass surveys. 2) Evaluate anthropogenic structures and road development on the probability of sage-grouse space-use and movement paths. 3) Identify changes in abundance and number of breeding birds before and after anthropogenic development with controls using breeding bird surveys. 4) Survey sage-grouse leks before and after energy development with controls and measure differences in male attendance. specific objectives to estimate long-term effects are: 5) Identify changes in densities of ravens and raptors in association with renewable energy development. 6) Identify changes in numbers of ravens nests and nesting substrate (anthropogenic vs. natural) in association with renewable energy development. 7) Identify changes in predator composition in relation to anthropogenic structures using videography at grouse nest sights. 8) Evaluate nest and brood survival inference models that include covariates of raven densities. 9) Identify differences between juvenile departure rates and diet composition of ravens nesting in anthropogenic structures and those in natural substrate using videography.
