Grant Description
This award provides for assistance to use the field data being collected by the USGS in process based numerical coastal wetland simulation models similar to those described in “Morris, J.T., Sundareshwar, P.V., Nietch, C.T., Kjerfve, B., Cahoon, D.R., 2002. Responses of coastal wetlands to rising sea level. Ecology 83, 2869-2877” to model the ecological sustainability of these marshes in the face of sea-level rise. University will benefit by close professional collaboration with USGS scientists and increased opportunities for an interdisciplinary research project related to federal resource management issues surrounding the impact of sea level rise on coastal wetlands.
