Some College Grants for Women You May Not Know About
Thinking about college grants for women specifically may be hard to do because for the most part, grants are offered on a relatively universal plain. That said, there are some organizations that address specific issues within their protocol, and they choose to offer grants to women who fit the basic theme of their organization. Grants are less rigorous than scholarships, but that doesn’t mean they can’t be just as specific in terms of who qualifies for them. Below are a few grant options available just for the girls.
A lot of your college grants for women are going to be offered specifically by your university.
Spellman College, Wesley College and Barnard College are among some of the schools that offer grants specifically for females, but there are countless others out there. If you attend an all-girl university, then undoubtedly you will encounter some sort of grants specific to women. You can find them at most any college though if you talk to a financial advisor or do some general research. As long as you can prove that you meet the requirements of the grant, you should be able to receive some type of funding.
There are some college grants for women that get even more specific than just gender.
These may be offered to women who come from abusive households or who have shown a significant interest in promoting women’s rights. There are also grants available for women who are studying in a male dominated field, like engineering. These are all designed to help women with specific needs or congratulate those that are fighting to make a name for themselves. If you want one of those grants, check into some organizations based around your needs or field of study and see what they have to offer. They may be able to provide you with scholarships as well, so you can get a lot of financial aid just because of who you are.
In the end, college grants for women aren’t your only options.
You can still go for the standard Pell grant or tuition aid grant that everyone else does. However, getting other grants as a way to supplement the money that you are already getting certainly shouldn’t be seen as a negative. Just apply for as much funding as you can so that you can get your schooling paid for. With the right application, you could go to school without having to pay a penny out of pocket.
