Asian Grants For College

To encourage students who are interested in Asian studies, several organizations have developed grant and scholarship programs to fund research and travel opportunities throughout Asia. Many universities also offer grants for students interested in Asian studies or teaching abroad.

The Southeast Asian Studies Regional Exchange Program

The Southeast Asian Studies Regional Exchange Program (SEASREP) promotes the study of Southeast Asia. This program provides study, research and exchange grants. This program also aims to establish a network of Southeast Asian Studies university scholars. This program offers many different scholarship programs. In addition to providing grants for language training, SEASREP also awards funding to teachers or graduate students in any university in Southeast Asia. Graduate students who are enrolled in social science or humanities programs are eligible to apply. Applicants for these grants must not be older than 40 years of age. The Association for Asian Studies

The Association for Asian Studies (AAS) is a professional association that provides financial assistance to students who are interested in the study of Asia. To be considered for the AAS China and Inner Asia Council Small Grants, applicants must be members of the AAS. These grants provide awards of up to $2,000 to graduate students and scholars who are interested in Chinese or Inner Asian studies. Asian American Journalists Association

The Asian American Journalists Association (AAJA) is a nonprofit membership organization. The AAJA provides a variety of educational and professional development opportunities for its members. Its mission is to educate its members about news media and foster a supportive community among Asian American and Pacific Islander journalists. Awards are given to AAJA members who exhibit excellence in journalism. Some programs offer award recipients up to $5,000, although the type of recognition depends on the particular award program. Asian Cultural Council

The Asian Cultural Council (ACC) awards grants to scholars, artists and professionals for research and creative work throughout the United States and Asia. These grants are intended to foster the creative abilities of artists and scholars through cultural exchanges that encourage international understanding and respect. They provide grant funding to individuals and nonprofit organizations with a demonstrated commitment to excellence in the arts. The ACC awards close to 100 grants each year. The majority of these grants are offered to individuals involved in artistic fields such as painting, photography, sculpture, theater, dance, choreography, archaeology and literature.
