Asian Grants For College
To encourage students who are interested in Asian studies, several organizations have developed grant and scholarship programs to fund research and travel opportunities throughout Asia. Many universities also offer grants for students interested in Asian studies or teaching abroad.
The Southeast Asian Studies Regional Exchange Program (SEASREP) promotes the study of Southeast Asia. This program provides study, research and exchange grants. This program also aims to establish a network of Southeast Asian Studies university scholars. This program offers many different scholarship programs. In addition to providing grants for language training, SEASREP also awards funding to teachers or graduate students in any university in Southeast Asia. Graduate students who are enrolled in social science or humanities programs are eligible to apply. Applicants for these grants must not be older than 40 years of age. To obtain up-to-date information about the various programs and application deadlines, visit the SEASREP website.
The Association for Asian Studies (AAS) is a professional association that provides financial assistance to students who are interested in the study of Asia. To be considered for the AAS China and Inner Asia Council Small Grants, applicants must be members of the AAS. These grants provide awards of up to $2,000 to graduate students and scholars who are interested in Chinese or Inner Asian studies.
