Grant Description

GGNRA and the Parks Conservancy have collaborated on a fee management partnership since 1997 providing fee collection and pass sales and issuance programs to the visiting public with a seamless fee collection experience and exceptional customer service including comprehensive visitor orientation to the parks. This Task Agreement will facilitate this ongoing collaboration which will include activities such as fee collection, pass sales and issuance, and visitor orientation. The expected outcome is to continue to forward ongoing efforts of providing fee collection, pass sales and visitor orientation as they are well aligned with and supplemental to the GGNPCДккs existing infrastructure, programs, and expertise throughout GGNRA, including its interpretive retail sales locations, its trained customer service staff, and its point of sale and cash handling systems. This multi-faceted pre-existing partnership has made GGNPC a unique resource because of their familiarity with and contributions to NPS goals and objectives, site operations, visitor programs and emergency communications. Additionally, GGNPC currently operates interpretive retail bookstores and provides for interagency pass sales at those locations, allowing for the seamless integration of the pass sales within the existing interpretive retail program and point of sales system. Legislation and NPS leadership encourage partnerships and collaboration in delivering and providing a quality experience to the visitors and resource enhancement. This collaborative partnership will provide visitors with park orientation and information resulting in a direct benefit to the visitor. GGNPC staff partner with the GGNRA on projects and programs through the parks on a daily basis. This partnership provides GGNPC staff with tremendous access to interpretive information, enabling them to support the NPS in unique and important ways, especially in assisting visitors and promoting NPS programs. Utilizing trained GGNPC staff to provide Fee Collection at Muir Woods while also continuing to administer no-cost partnership operations at other interpretive visitor contact locations throughout GGNRA allows for a cohesive visitor experience as well as unique operational efficiencies.
