A national organization is defined as a non-profit entity or consortium that has on-going experience in rural housing, including experience working with rural housing development organizations, community development corporations (CDCs), community housing development organizations (CHDOs), local governments, and Indian tribes, as evidenced by past and continuing work in one or more states in five or more of the federal regions described on HUD's website at http://portal.hud.gov/hudportal/HUD?src=/localoffices/regions. Individuals, foreign entities, and sole proprietorship organizations are not eligible to compete for, or receive, awards made under this announcement.

Grant Description

Through funding of national organizations with expertise in rural housing and community development, the Rural Capacity Building program enhances the capacity and ability of rural housing development organizations, CDCs, CHDOs, local governments, and Indian Tribes to carry out community development and affordable housing activities that benefit low-income families and persons and low- and moderate-income families and persons in rural areas.
